[dropcap]D[/dropcap]ue to the lobbying efforts of the ARRL and licensed amateurs in Mississippi, Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) has co-sponsored a Senate version of H.R. 1301 with Richard Blumenthal, (D-CT) called the Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2015. It is S.1685 and located here. This bipartisan effort greatly increases the chances that this legislation will become law in the near future. OK, What’s Next?
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he CMSARA-hosted joint Field Day 2015 event is now in the books. Over 600 contacts were made, about half by the Code-Master, Mike Duke, who wore out at least three loggers working with him. Satellites were reached. Trains were waved at. Drones were flown. Great food and drink were consumed. A good turnout was present. New hams were recruited. And the residents of Pelahatchie MS were very nice to us. The Mayor of Pelahatchie, Knox Ross, was our official host, allowing CMSARA to utilize both Muscadine Park and the Community Center for our activities. More details coming…

The Iron is Hot!
CMSARA members Mike McKay N5DU and Frank Howell K4FMH have lobbied the Mississippi Congressional Delegation on behalf of amateur radio in the past. Jim Armstrong AK5J, as the Section’s State Government Liaison, has worked vigorously on these efforts in concert with them.
